Free AI SEO Audit Report: False Positives Explained
On 27 October 2026 I ran aiwebpageseo.com through Free AI SEO Audit, a tool that checks how well a page can be found and quoted by AI answer engines such as ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity. It scored the home page 86 out of 100, "Excellent", with 22 passes, 4 partials, 2 fails and 4 checks marked not applicable.
A good score is welcome, but I am only interested in what an audit gets wrong. This post sets out each finding that did not pass, what the page actually shows, and whether the finding stands. The full report and my checks are saved here: Free AI SEO Audit evidence, 27 October 2026.
False positive 1: the wrong paragraph read as the introduction (B1)
Free AI SEO Audit says: Partial. "First substantive paragraph: https://transparencyreport.google.com/safe-browsing/search?url=aiwebpageseo.com No unsafe content found Malware and phishing lists Live Safe Browsing result". Fix: "Start with a 2-3 sentence answer that names the brand, product, or topic and states what the page is about."
The facts: the text it quotes is not a paragraph. It is the Google Safe Browsing trust box near the top of the page. The real first paragraph after the H1 reads: "Check a site for security, trust, Google spam policies, HTTP errors and accessibility, debug and generate schema, and see how people, Google and AI systems read your business. Pick a tool below: each card says what it checks and answers the common questions." That is a direct answer that states what the page is about. The check read the wrong block.
False positive 2: fourteen sections ignored (B4)
Free AI SEO Audit says: Partial. "4666 words across 3 H2-level section(s)." Fix: "Break long pages into specific H2/H3 sections that can stand alone when retrieved as chunks."
The facts: the page has 3 H2 sections (Established audits, Final checks and Work in progress) and 14 H3 sections under them, one for each audit: Security Audit, Google Spam Policy Audit, Real Traffic Audit, Accessibility Audit, HTTP Error Audit, LLMs.txt Auditor, Markdown Generator, Combined Audit, Trust Audit, Schema Debugger, Schema Generator, E-E-A-T Checker, Site Audit Pro and Google Business Profile Audit. Each one explains a single audit and answers its own questions, which is exactly the self-contained H2/H3 structure the fix asks for. The same report's B2 check counted 23 headings, so B4 contradicts B2.
False positive 3: a GitHub link for a hosted audit platform (E7)
Free AI SEO Audit says: Fail. "Page reads as a developer/technical product, but no GitHub link was detected." Fix: "For technical products, link active GitHub repositories, examples, or developer docs."
The facts: aiwebpageseo.com is a hosted audit platform that people use in a browser. It is not an open-source project or a developer library, so there is no repository to link to. Adding a GitHub link would not make the page more useful or more trustworthy to a reader or to an AI engine. The rule does not apply to this kind of site.
False positive 4: a category scored 0% when it was not applicable (F)
Free AI SEO Audit says: Measurement and Governance, 0.0 out of 3, 0%. Its only check, F6, is marked N/A: "This page does not look like an article or blog post, so a refresh-date signal is not required."
The facts: a category whose only check does not apply should be left out, not shown as 0%. Showing 0% tells a reader the site failed something it was never tested on.
False positive 5: scores of more than 100%
Free AI SEO Audit says: Technical AI Crawlability, 28.5 out of 28.4. Structured Data / Schema, 13.6 out of 13.4, "101%".
The facts: a page cannot score more than the maximum. These are errors in the tool's own scoring.
What the audit got right
To be fair, three findings stand:
- B7, no quoted or attributed sources: correct. The home page does not quote or attribute any outside source.
- D12, brand descriptors not consistent: the finding is fair, although the evidence given is not. The report says the brand appears in the title, but the title is "SEO Audit Tool for SEO, Security, Accessibility, Schema", which does not contain it. The page does write the brand in more than one way, and that is worth fixing.
- D10, no original research: fair. The home page does not mention or link original research.
Summary
Of the 6 findings that did not pass, plus the category and scoring problems, 5 are false positives: one check read the wrong part of the page, one ignored 14 sections, one applied a developer rule to a hosted platform, one scored a not-applicable category as 0%, and two categories were scored above their maximum. Three findings are fair and will be acted on.
The report itself says AI SEO is "a new and rapidly evolving discipline" and to "treat this report as a directional snapshot, not a fixed checklist". That is good advice. Check what any audit tells you against the page itself before you change anything.
Frequently asked questions
What is Free AI SEO Audit?
Free AI SEO Audit is an online tool at freeaiseoaudit.com that checks how well a page can be fetched, understood and quoted by AI answer engines such as ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity. It scores a page out of 100 across crawlability, content structure, schema, E-E-A-T, off-site presence and measurement, and gives a fix for each check that does not pass.
What false positives did Free AI SEO Audit report for aiwebpageseo.com?
It read the Google Safe Browsing trust box as the page introduction, counted only 3 H2 sections and ignored 14 self-contained H3 sections, asked a hosted audit platform to link a GitHub repository, scored a not-applicable category as 0%, and scored two categories above their own maximum. Each one is set out in this post with what the page actually shows.
Which Free AI SEO Audit findings were correct?
Three findings stand. The home page does not quote or attribute any outside source, the brand name is written in more than one way across the page, and the page does not mention or link original research. These are fair points and will be acted on, although the evidence given for the brand finding was wrong because the brand is not in the page title.
Should I trust an AI SEO audit score?
Use it as a starting point, not a verdict. Free AI SEO Audit's own report says AI SEO is a new and rapidly evolving discipline and that the report is a directional snapshot, not a fixed checklist. Check each finding against the page itself, including what the tool quotes as evidence, before you change anything, because a check can read the wrong part of a page.
