How to Fix Every SERP Preview Finding

The SERP Preview tool shows how your page renders in Google search results — title truncation, description rewrites Google may apply, breadcrumb display, sitelinks, rich features. SERP CTR drives organic traffic; a mediocre preview wastes a ranking. This index covers every finding.

By finding type

SERP findings fall into these categories:

✂️ Fix truncated titles PLANNED
Google's title pixel-width is roughly 600px desktop, 580px mobile (about 55-60 characters but varies by character width). Going over means truncation with "...". The cap that survives across devices.
🔄 Fix Google rewriting your title PLANNED
Google rewrites about 60% of titles. Common rewrites: brand suffix added/removed, h1 swapped in, query-match added. Stop fighting; design titles Google won't rewrite (clear, descriptive, no clickbait).
📝 Fix description not used by Google PLANNED
Google ignores your description if it picks a better snippet from the page body. The patterns that make Google use your description: query-matching keywords, 140-160 chars, clear value-prop in first 120.
🔗 Fix URL display issues PLANNED
Google may show breadcrumbs instead of the URL, or compress long paths. Use BreadcrumbList schema for control. The www. vs naked-domain display logic.
🏛️ Fix missing breadcrumbs in SERP PLANNED
BreadcrumbList JSON-LD with at least 2 ListItems. Anchor text matches visible breadcrumbs on the page. Common bug: hard-coded breadcrumbs that don't match the URL path.
🔍 Fix missing sitelinks PLANNED
Sitelinks appear under brand-name queries for high-authority sites. Internal-linking structure, page hierarchy, and the time-on-site signals that earn them. Why you cannot directly force sitelinks.
Fix missing star ratings in SERP PLANNED
Stars need eligible review schema with aggregateRating. Display depends on query intent (commercial intent helps) and Google's confidence in the rating. The eligibility-vs-display gap.
📷 Fix missing thumbnails in SERP PLANNED
Mobile SERPs increasingly show thumbnails. max-image-preview:large in robots meta. ImageObject in your schema. Quality, dimensions and query relevance determine display.
