PageSpeed — Scores, Tips & Improvements
Advice PageSeo · 8 March 2026 · 0 replies
Share your PageSpeed scores, discuss what fixes made the biggest difference, and help others improve their performance.
Lab scores change from run to run, so compare several runs and look at the field data from real visitors where it is available. The fixes that usually make the biggest difference are smaller images, fewer render-blocking scripts and styles, and a faster server response. Share your before and after figures and the change that moved them.
Lab data and field data
PageSpeed Insights shows two kinds of results. Field data comes from real Chrome users over the previous 28 days, and it is what Google uses for Core Web Vitals. Lab data is a single Lighthouse test on a simulated device and connection, which is why the performance score can move by several points between runs with nothing changed on the page.
The three Core Web Vitals
Largest Contentful Paint should be 2.5 seconds or less, Interaction to Next Paint 200 milliseconds or less and Cumulative Layout Shift 0.1 or less, each measured at the 75th percentile of visits. A page passes when all three meet their targets.
What to post
Include the page address, whether you tested mobile or desktop, the metric that failed and the element PageSpeed Insights names for it, such as the LCP image. Before and after figures from several runs are far more useful than a single score.
