Keyword Analysis — Research & Strategy
Advice PageSeo · 8 March 2026 · 0 replies
Share keyword research wins, discuss how to find untapped opportunities, and help others build a solid keyword strategy.
Free starting points are the queries in your Search Console Performance report and the keyword ideas in Google Ads Keyword Planner. Match each page to one main topic, write for the question behind the search, and check what already ranks before choosing a target. Share the searches you won and how long it took to see movement.
Using Search Console
Open the Performance report, set the date range to the last three months and sort the queries by impressions. Queries with plenty of impressions but few clicks, where your page sits between positions 5 and 20, are often the quickest wins: the page is already relevant, and a clearer title, a better answer near the top or a new section can move it. Filter by page to see every query one page is shown for.
Matching searches to pages
Give each page one main topic and group close variations together, rather than building a separate page for each wording. If two of your pages compete for the same search, merge them or make their purposes clearly different.
Checking the search intent
Search the query yourself before you choose it. If the results are shops, a guide is unlikely to rank; if they are guides, a product page will struggle. Write the page that matches what Google already shows people.
