GSC AEO Audit — Search Console & AI Visibility

Search Console added reports on performance in Search generative AI features in June 2026. Compare those queries with your normal Performance report to see which pages are shown in AI features. Share which of your pages appear most and anything they have in common.

What Search Console counts
Clicks and impressions from AI Overviews and AI Mode are counted in the normal Performance report under the Web search type, not as a separate total. When a page is linked in an AI Overview, Google counts an impression for it, and the position recorded is the position of the AI Overview on the results page.

How to use it with the AEO audit
Run the AEO audit on the pages that get the most impressions for question searches, the ones beginning with how, what, why or can. Those are the searches most likely to show an AI answer. Check that each page answers the question directly near the top, in a sentence or two that makes sense on its own, followed by the detail.

What to post
Share the query, the page and what changed after you acted on the audit, such as more impressions for question searches or the page being cited in an AI Overview. Compare periods of at least 28 days, as daily figures move a lot.
