Why does Google Search Console show clicks but Google Analytics shows none?
Why the numbers never match exactly
Search Console counts clicks from Google Search results. Google Analytics counts sessions from every source, but only when its tag fires in the visitor's browser. Anything that stops the tag firing makes the visit disappear from Analytics while the click stays in Search Console:
- Visitors who decline cookies, unless consent mode modelling is set up.
- Ad blockers and privacy browsers that block Google Analytics.
- People who leave before the page, and the tag, have finished loading.
- Pages where the tag is missing, or is held back by a consent tool that never releases it.
Search Console data also runs about two days behind and uses Pacific time, so "the last 24 hours" in each tool is not the same 24 hours.
How to check which problem you have
- Open your site in a normal browser window with no ad blocker and accept the cookies. At the same time, open Google Analytics and go to Reports, then Realtime. You should appear within a minute. If you do not, the tag is not firing.
- If you do not appear, open the browser's developer tools (F12), go to the Console tab and reload the page. Look for red errors mentioning googletagmanager.com or google-analytics.com.
- Compare like with like. In Analytics, go to Acquisition, then Traffic acquisition, and filter session source and medium to google / organic. Compare that with Search Console clicks, not with all Analytics users.
The cause most people miss: a Content Security Policy
When I tightened the security headers on my own site, I learned how easily a Content Security Policy can block analytics. If your site sends a CSP header and Google's domains are not on its allowed list, the browser silently refuses to load Google Analytics. The site looks completely normal, Search Console still records the clicks, and Analytics shows nothing. The browser console will show an error such as "Refused to load the script because it violates the following Content Security Policy directive". The fix is to add Google's tag domains to the script-src and connect-src parts of your policy.

Frequently asked questions
Why does Google Search Console show clicks but Google Analytics shows none?
the two tools count different things. Search Console records a click on Google's own side the moment someone clicks your result. Google Analytics only records a visit if your page loads, its tag runs and the visitor allows tracking. If Search Console shows clicks and Analytics shows exactly zero, the Analytics tag is almost always not running at all.
